How to Use the E-Liquid Calculator
The e-liquid calculator has been designed to make creating an e-liquid recipe simple and accurate. Each section has a specific purpose. Enter your information from top to bottom, and the calculator will use those values to build your finished recipe.
1. Batch
Enter the finished batch size you want to make. This is the total amount of e-liquid you want in your bottle after all ingredients have been combined.
For example, enter 100 ml if you want to make a 100 ml batch. The e-liquid calculator will adjust all ingredient amounts automatically based on the batch size you enter.
Standard Batch
The Standard Batch mode calculates a complete finished e-liquid recipe. Enter your desired nicotine strength, VG/PG ratio and flavour percentages, and the calculator will determine the exact amounts of nicotine base, VG, PG and each flavour needed for your finished batch.
Flavours Only Batch
The Flavours Only Batch mode is used to create a concentrated flavour blend from your recipe. It calculates the amount of each flavour needed to create your chosen quantity while preserving the proportions of your recipe.
The finished blend can then be treated as a single flavour when making your final e-liquid. The calculator tells you the total percentage of flavouring contained in the finished blend, so you know what percentage of the blend to use in your final recipe.
3. Target
Enter the finished nicotine strength you want in your e-liquid, along with your desired VG/PG ratio. These are the values you want your completed recipe to reach.
For example, if you want a finished e-liquid at 3 mg/ml with a 70/30 VG/PG ratio, enter 3 mg/ml, 70% VG and 30% PG. The e-liquid calculator then works out how much additional VG and PG is needed after accounting for the nicotine base and flavour concentrates.
2. Nicotine Base
Enter the strength of your nicotine base in mg/ml, along with its VG and PG percentages, using the information shown on your nicotine bottle label.
For example, if your nicotine base is 20 mg/ml and is made with 70% VG and 30% PG, enter those values here. The e-liquid calculator uses this information to account for the VG and PG already supplied by your nicotine base.
4. Flavouring
Add each flavour concentrate you want to use and enter its percentage of the finished batch. You can add multiple flavours when building a recipe, with each flavour entered separately.
If a flavour concentrate is VG-based, select the VG checkbox beside that flavour. This tells the e-liquid calculator to adjust the specific VG-based flavour’s density in its calculation.
Once you have entered your flavours, Total Flavours shows the combined percentage of all flavour concentrates. If you decide you want more or less flavour in your recipe, the Adjust total flavour percentage controls provide an easy way to make that change. Adjust the total by 0.5% at a time, and the calculator will proportionally adjust all of your flavour percentages while keeping their relative balance the same. Cancel returns to the original flavour percentages, while Set applies the adjustment.
5. Recipe
Once you’ve entered your recipe information, the e-liquid calculator displays the calculated amount of each ingredient required for your finished batch.
The results show the amount of nicotine base, each flavour concentrate, VG and PG required, along with the total volume and estimated weight of the finished recipe.
If all of the selected ingredients can produce your requested recipe, the calculator will display “This recipe can be mixed.”
If you see “This recipe can’t be mixed with the selected ingredients and target.”, it means the combination of ingredients and target settings cannot produce the requested recipe without one of the required ingredient amounts becoming negative.
What should I check?
- Nicotine base strength: Make sure the strength entered matches the nicotine base you are using.
- Nicotine base VG/PG: Check that the VG and PG percentages match the information on your bottle label.
- Target VG/PG ratio: Check that your desired finished ratio is correct.
- Flavour percentages: Make sure the flavour percentages are appropriate for your recipe and that the total amount of flavouring isn’t too high.
- Ingredient compatibility: If the recipe requires more VG or PG than can be added after accounting for the nicotine base and flavouring, try adjusting your target ratio or flavour percentages.
Try changing one value at a time and recalculate the recipe. The ingredient amounts shown in red indicate where the calculated amount would fall below zero.
